Hey~!
I found out this way of blending tones when I was randomly painting [unfortunately it's a WIP so I don't have it uploaded].
Although that painting isn't done [and thus I do not have a finished example to show] I decided to make a tutorial about this technique, because I found it to be pretty useful, and much more controllable then that unstable smudge tool .
I am not very experienced in digital art, so don't expect this to give your paintings a huge boost, but I did see an improvement in the result, and maybe you would an improvement as well
If you don't like the result just... don't use it :/ what can I say...? I'm not a pro.

I've blended like this in paint before. But it doesn't have any brushes that do soft edges, so you just have to adjust the colors to be inbetween by yourself. xD It's very, very time consuming.
